Once a year an odd set of humans descend on the beach in Hibberdene. They are wearing lots of brightly coloured clothing, not too much of it batik or tie-dye (thank deity of choice). Eavesdropping on their conversations will bring lots of gleeful talk about balls, clubs, passing and siteswap. It’s a little jarring, because none of them really look, um, that sex crazed.

The sleepy seaside holiday village in KwaZulu-Natal must hold its breath late every April when the annual Juggling & Unicycle Convention hits town. Now in its 11th year, jugglers of all shapes, sizes, and ages gather to workshop and share their methods of the ancient circus arts.
